What Dia De Los Muertos is (Muertos)

Muertos is a Post Apocalyptic Fantasy based Role Play sim that has adopted the CCS combat system (Community Combat System).

Muertos has an option once you enter the sim to change your WL, this is a custom lighting that helps you as the player grasp the feel of the environment around you.

Lag - To help with sim lag there is many options.
Change your draw distance to 70-100
Take off any heavy scripted items of clothing or deactivate the scripts in that object via Edit>Tools>Set Scripts To not Running -OR- >Remove Scripts From Section
Cntrl Alt Shift - will take away the sim clouds, this helps with the particles that SL uses for the sim. Just remember to use the - (minus) button

Muertos is a 8 XP (tick) sim with only 1 safe zone. Everywhere else your a target, so be prepared to die, or win a lot of fights.

☢ Basics -
Some basic abbreviations that many use in and out of CCS…

☑ AFK - Away From Keyboard
☑ RL - Real Life (Not quite sure what this means but eh)
☑ CCS - Community Combat System
☑ FTB - Fate To Black ( Will be explained below )
☑ GM - Game Master or Game Monitor
☑ XP - Experience Points
☑ IC - In Character
☑ OOC - Out Of Character
☑ RP - Role Play

GENERAL RULES:

1) You do not have a right to be an asshole. Treat others as you wished to be treated.

2) Child Avatars:
Child Avatars are not allowed within Muertos. This is a adult sim, where adult things happen all day everyday. We've tried to allow child avatars with the no sex/violence rule, but it almost always caused a problem. If your avatar looks like a child you will be warned that you need to change it or you will be perma banned.

3) Poaching:
Poaching is the act of going into a community and deliberately trying to pull players from said community in order to strengthen another. We expect that people from other factions, other sims and other combat systems would not poach from us and in return we expect the same of our players and staff when visiting other sims.

Internal poaching within Muertos is not allowed either, attempting to pull people from one faction into your own in a IC or OOC manner is strictly against the rules. Faction hopping in general is frowned upon but it does happen and when it does it needs to be strictly the players decision to leave one faction and join another. To help avoid drama, when accepting a new member into your faction, who was just in another, you should OOCly speak to the leader of that faction and make sure they know, as a courtesy.

4) Gestures/Sounds:
Gestures can be a fun enhancement to role play. Please use them appropriately and rarely. Do not spam gestures or sounds repeatedly as this disrupts role play and is annoying. Out of character gestures are not allowed.

5) Shouting:
Please keep shouting to a minimum and in conjunction with ongoing role play. OOC shouting is prohibited in the sim.

6) Harassment:
Muertos is a dark role play simulation. Activities many regard as "evil" are typical in Muertos. Slavery, rape, murder, theft and random violence are all appropriate in a post-Apocalyptic world. Demons, vampires, lycanthropes, creatures from other planes, rapists, serial killers and similar creatures all roam the streets. This means that *characters* often act in aggressive, predatory, criminal and/or plain uncomfortable ways. This is to be expected given the nature of the simulation.

In-character protests often do not deter such activity because many *players* come to the sim looking for such things, regardless of what their *character* might want. If you do not wish to role play certain activities or with certain players then it is best to IM the other person out-of-character (OOC) and politely explain you are uncomfortable and find something you can roleplay that the both of you will enjoy.

7) Being Banned:
If you truly do feel that you have been banned unjustly or a GM was abusing their power, make a thread on the "CCS - Ban Appeals" forum thread at http://ccs-gametech.com/. Please follow the rules on the forum and post your appeal in the designated format.

8) Out of character:
Statements made out of character in the Dia De Los Muertos and most other RP communities is signified by speaking ((in brackets)). This is so your fellow players know what you are saying is not in character and helps minimize confusion between IC (in character) and OOC(out of character) statements.

Insulting, argumentative or those made in anger, stated OOC to other members of this community are completely PROHIBITED. If you have an issue that you feel requires the intervention of a mediator, contact a member of the Muertos GM Team.

9) Meta-gaming:
As stated in the CoLA combat rules, Meta-gaming is defined as: When a player has become aware of or told about information Out of character (OOC) pertaining to or directly regarding an ongoing storyline, situation or other player and then, by means of role play, uses that information either to their own benefit or as a means to interact with/against other players.

This is extremely aggravating for those of us who are trying to provide fun and possibly in-depth stories for the residents in LA and is therefore prohibited in the game.

10) God modding:
God modding is negating everything someone does towards you or against you in RP because your character is so uber awesome i.e a god. This is silly and people who godmod will not only receive a ban for repeated offences, but will likely be branded by the playerbase as someone who isn't worth roleplaying with and you'll find time in all RP sims a very lonely time.

11) Going Non combative is only allowed when you haven't been involved in any hostile roleplay or combat for at least 10 minutes. If you need to go AFK for a few minutes, you must turn your CCS back on upon returning if someone requests it.

12) Once you make a melee attack or shoot at someone as well as using an offensive skill, you are to consider yourself in combat. To be melee attacked or shot also initiates combat, as does the use of an defensive skill.

13) Fighting using physical weapons, such as a sword requires that you wear your CCS Meter. RP fighting is used instead of CCS combat, it's something that both parties need to agree upon beforehand OOCly. If someone doesn't agree to RP combat, they still have every right to kill you with combat.

14) Roleplay is not required of someone that attacks you and defeats you before or after the fact. It is encouraged and in most cases, it fits. Most players should initiate roleplay after a battle. However there are certain types of characters like assassins, muggers, insane asylum escapees and douchebags, that aren't going to stick around after the fact. The burden of roleplay is on the victim. If they're left in the alley, then crying for help would be a good start to bring some roleplay to what just happened to you.

15) Turning off, removing, or resetting your CCS meter is illegal during combat. Once all RP associated with the combat is over, you may remove your meter if you wish. Removing your meter or resetting it during combat to avoid defeat or regain health, however, is not allowed and will result in punishment.

16) Weapon stacking is not allowed, regardless of who you are or reason. You are allowed to use, at maximum, two one handed swords, two one handed guns, one two handed sword or gun, one melee hud, OR one single handed sword and a single handed gun. Equipping a two handed weapon and a one handed weapon or melee hud at the same time is NOT allowed. If you are caught weapon stacking, you will be subject to disciplinary action.

17) Use of internal or external Voice chat programs:

The use of voice, and or Skype or Ventrilo voice chats are forbidden to use for roleplay or combat.

It is an external system, it is meta-gaming, and thus shall not be used in conjunction with factional combat.

Voice is on in Muertos but to only be used in the Arena where its a safe zone.

18) If you crashed during a group fight, you must wait 10 minutes before rejoining the battle if it is still going. If the fight is already over, it's best to come into the RP on whichever side your group is currently in, whether they won or lost.

19) Personal roleplay limits are allowed if you're uncomfortable with a certain roleplay. This is for people that truely find a particular roleplay disturbing on a severe level.

If you have a certain type of roleplay as a limit, you cannot perform that roleplay on others.

20) Corpse camping is where you stand around a body and wait for the person to revive and then kill them again with the sole intention of being a jerk. CCS killing someone who is trying to flee or fight again is allowed, even if they've just rezzed.

Even if the revive is due to a timer, a racial skill, or if revived by another, if you are already RPing, your character bound or trapped, you should continue to roleplay the scene, not negate it because CCS decided to revive you.

21) Revives:
During one on one combat, you should role play being hurt after you have been defeated. You should not immediately revive and attack someone. The racial revives allow you to recover early and maybe escape. If a healer revives you after single combat, you should still RP being injured.

EXCEPTION: in group combat scenarios a player can rejoin combat if they are resurrected by a healer and healed back to combat level statistics.
Group combat is defined as having 3 or more participants making any action that involves them in a fight. i.e. use of Offensive, Support or Healing skills, attacking another party in the combat situation, etc.

22) When you're defeated in CCS combat, it's just the same as if you were defeated in a long drawn out roleplay combat. With your health at 0, you cannot fight back anymore, not thru CCS and not thru roleplay. You are at the mercy of the victor.

23) If you need to log off or the RP is going in a direction that makes you uncomfortable or breaks one of your limits, you may Fade to Black (FTB). If you fade to black, you MAY NOT engage in combat again with the party for 3 hours.

Fading to black is NOT the same as voiding a scene. When you fade to black, you simply fast forwards, skipping whatever portion of the RP that would make you feel uncomfortable, if not the whole scene. Your character is STILL EFFECTED BY THIS.

Fading a scene should be avoided at all costs, just as voiding should. Talk in IM's with the other people involved, compromise and remember that this is just RP. If you need to leave (log off) then you need to leave but still, come to a compromise on what happened to your character in your absence and RP the effects the next time you log on.

Abusing the fade to black rule will result in disciplinary action. It is not a way to avoid having to do defeat RP. Keep in mind RP is for everyone, not just for you. By fading to black, you are taking away from other people's RP and in turn, people may not wish to RP with you as often.

24) Post combat OOC comments:
Whether from the victorious party gloating or the loser complaining will not be tolerated. If there is a REAL issue consult a GM immediately otherwise keep it IC RP only. OOC insults and rude comments will result in disciplinary action. This includes negative comments or insults made in IMs as well as in the open. Be an adult about things, it is only a GAME.

Disruptive, public and OOC complaints:

There will be no more OOC complaints or bitching about other players, other factions, or anything at all in the Muertos sim

25) No Moving Corpses:
Once you are dead then you are dead. You must wait till you revive naturally or are revived by a healer or through a racial skill. You are not permitted to move unless you are being dragged or moved by another as part of an roleplay. Also a suggestion, try to turn off your AO while defeated so the Override standing animation doesn't confuse anyone.

26) RP limits:
Roleplay limits are things you find particularly disturbing to play out, something you just can't stomach doing, even in a fantasy setting. Your limits are your own and while everyone may not agree with them, you're allowed to have them. However, they should be serious limits. You should not go into a dark RP sim and have NO DARK RP as your limit. Try your best to find the CCS sim that fits you closest and if your limits come up, work with that person to find a different RP that you'd both enjoy. DO NOT agree to do a RP that you have a issue with doing and then complain about it later on. If you agree, then you agree and do not have the right make a issue out of it.

27) Flying
Flying in Muertos is allowed, but not beyond the clouds, if any higher you will lose your rights to fly. Also, your only right to fly is if your IC has a reason to fly. IE Angel, Demon, and so on. If your a Lycan or a Human but your IC story states your part Angel or you use a jet pack then please make sure you have wings and or jet-pack on. Wings also go to Angels and Demons.

- There is NO combat in flying, this is only to me used to enhance your Role Play. You can not fly away from a fight OR fly away from a fight about to begin.
- Do NOT skill other players while flying, and DO NOT use any forms of guns or crossbows while flying.

28) Vehicles
No Boats, Cars, Trucks or Airplays are allowed in Muertos. Only Motorcycles, ATVs, and Grunge Rollers (Monster creations of left over parts) are allowed.

- Please do not leave your vehicle out on the sim or it will be returned. This also goes to base owners in Muertos.
- No combat on your Vehicles (any form of combat this includes skills)

29) Jump Enhancements
Jump Enhancements are the same basic guidelines of flying in Muertos. Do not abuse the rights of these privileges or you will lose them, and also all the other players in the sim will lose them as well.

30) Clan Bases
There is no take over of clan bases, once a clan is based in Muertos its theirs. BUT this does not mean another clan can not Roleplay taking over the base. That clan may be able to take over your base but this does not mean you lose any of your items or your base. Its the principal of Role-playing. You can tho try and reclaim your base back.

- You can - Set fire, tag (graffiti) and deface another base with proper Roleplay, even if the base is EMPTY. BUT you need to make sure you keep the log of you Roleplay of doing so and pass it to the clan leader, or clan member(s) of that base so they are well aware of the actions you did to their base.
(For prim removel of these fires and tags please contact a local GM to remove them, once the local GM has a log of the Roleplay of you removing them, they will return the objects)

-Please only place out ONE heal bead per clan base to use. AND you MAY NOT use these heal beds during RP or COMBAT

31) Second Chance
In Muertos we do now allow Second Chance gear of any form, this means any belts, shoes, watches, or what ever. We believe once your dead, you should stay dead.

32) Arena
The Muertos Arena is a OOC Safe Zone and wont be abused. Running or hiding in the arena will make issues with other players, so to fix this we have set up if this issue should happen then a local GM has RIGHT to declare the Arena to be a IC zone, and your NO LONGER safe. Notice of this will be either said by the GM at hand or in Xicos group notice.

33) TP Area
This is NOT a safe zone but we DO ask for NO COMBAT in this arena.

34) Calling for Help
Calling for help should not always be used when its against just 1 person. There is many options for calling in for help.
- Call in help by animal, IE "quickly jots down on a piece of paper, tying the note to the end of a mouse tail watching the little creature run away*
- You can use Com-Devices if you properly RP doing so.
- You can use your own Race or Body to call in for help IE *Wags his tail feeling her bides get tighter as she growls out slamming her tail to the ground hoping the vibrations reach nearby help*

Also once you called in for help, your help MUST TP in to the entrance of Muertos and FIND YOU. You are NOT allowed to TP in your help at any time.

35) Calling for Help is a touchy subject but we feel that this rule will help and satisfy all sides of the players.

There is a limit in calling for help, your choices are simple. You can only call for help with friends, allies, or your own clan. This is because of the small clans that do come here don't get over powered. Also your "help" has a 10 minet limit to get in to the sim to help you. The catch to it tho is this. There is no limit on the people who come, but you only get ONE CALL. So remember you can only make one call per fight.

36) Vandalism is always fun and allowed in Muertos. Its how all clans in the sim start a long RP. So saying that we want to let you all know that fire prims carry more then 1 script and its also alpha, so we do ask not to place so many out.

- Also, there is a MANDATORY 4 lines of ROLE PLAY for each PRIM (fire, graffiti so on) that you place out for vandalism.
- Another thing, please remember to log all these events to give to one of that clans, members or leader so they are aware of your actions.

Taking down items —— This also needs to be done by 4 lines of RP. And yes, each Item.

Placing prims out with out a proper RP is not allowed in Muertos and at some cases can be considered griefing.

37) Personal Limits, will always be respect and the sim owners have put a lot of thought in to limits with limits and after a while of thinking we came to the conclusion not to set limits on limits but we do ask these simple things…

- Try not to use off the wall limits such as "No cutting hair" . This is SL, and even so in RL hair grows back.
- Remember that a lot of players will mirror your limits so DO NOT GET MAD
- Also remember to read limits before you capture someone. This should avoid any GM issues.

With this being said we hope you think your limits a little more. Most players wont RP with you if your limits are off the walls.
We will always respect your limits, no matter what they are. We only ask you think before limiting your fun and fun of others in CCS

38) Sim overload. This is what we call when there is 3 people against 20, and when those 20 people call in for help. Does this sound fair? No, it does not.
This is no longer allowed in Muertos. This is a form of bullying even if its IC. We need to be fair and understand that 3 people against more then 10 is ridiculous and not called for in combat. This is over loading the battle. It's a more or less thing of, you should know better that that :)

39) Respect - No matter if the owner, GM or another player is around OOC respect is a must. We also need to know that no matter the title we hold in CCS, that we are all humans and should be treated with the same respect you would want for your self.
If a GM makes a call, that is it. No other GM or even the owner of Muertos can over ride that call unless we see we need to. So please do no IM another GM from Muertos when there has been a GM call on the issue. This is GM SHOPPING and not allowed in ccs.
